The Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Activity (CAAWS) will award three further Ontario based organisations with Targeted Initiatives. Deadline to apply: 20 October 2014
A Canadian Sport for Life Project
With support from the Ontario Sport and Recreation Communities Fund, CAAWS is pleased to announce a new project designed to increase the participation and leadership of women and girls. Building on CAAWS’ publication “Actively Engaging Women and Girls: Addressing the Psycho-Social Factors” (a supplement to the Canadian Sport for Life foundation documents) the project involves a number of strategies to enhance policy, practice, programme and service delivery in communities across the province during 2013-2015.
Targeted initiatives
In total, ten Targeted Initiatives are being awarded to Ontario-based organisations interested in addressing the psycho-social factors that impact women and girls’ participation in sport and physical activity through participation, leadership or capacity building projects.
The final deadline for applications to collaborate with CAAWS on Canadian Sport for Life initiatives is 20 October 2014. Mentoring and financial support is available for a further three Ontario-based organisations.
Through this project, CAAWS is already collaborating with the Ontario Freestyle Ski Association, Ontario Athletics Association, FutureGirls Soccer Program, Finlandia Hockey Club, Nakkertok Cross Country Ski Club, Northern Ontario Curling Association, and South Nepean Satellite Community Health Centre.
