Call for entries: The leader of the future

The Interamnia World Cup Association calls for entries in the contest entitled "The leader of the future". Application deadline: 15 January 2015

Interamnia World Cup is a sport-cultural association that has been organising a handball tournament for young athletes in Teramo and its province in Italy since 1973. The tournament is acknowledged as the most international handball tournament in the world. Communities are asked to play in the symbolic Peace Team that, since 2004, has put together players from countries that are at war with each other.

In 2012 Interamnia World Cup launched the international competition entitled "The leader of the future". In supporting and promoting the 43th Interamnial World Cup and with regard to the Worldwide Congress of the Language Rights  (in Teramo in 2015),  the  Interamnia  World  Cup  Association, together with the University of Teramo and the Languages of Europe and Mediterranean Sea Italia Association announces the second edition of  the contest.

Participants can draw inspiration from the following leads of essays:
  • Sport is a precious tool for young people to psychologically, physically and socially grow up together - it transmits universal values of peace and brotherhood
  • Friendship is the basis of human relationships, exchange of ideas, judgements, attitudes, mutual actions and enrichment of everyday life
  • Worldwide citizenship, equal opportunities and no discrimination rights
  • Sport and civil values
  • Speaking different languages and understanding each other: can sport be a communication model?
  • The encounter between different linguistic-cultural identities: an obstacle or an opportunity?
  • French, the language of the Olympic values (special category)

The contest is intended for 8-18 year old children and teenagers, students from all kinds of schools and of all nationalities.

Each participant can present one or more work of literature (essays, poems, articles and short stories), art (drawings, graphics and photographs), multimedia (videoclips, digital presentations and digital artworks), etc. Three categories in the contest are provided for the different age segments: individual work, team work and specific work (either individual or in team) about the “French, the language of the Olympics values” theme.

Each participant (or group of participants), who is still underage, shall be represented by a teacher, a parent or a tutor, who will take care of filling and sending the works, plus the necessary authorisations according to the current law related to underage subjects.
